Annual Festival

Held every Memorial Day weekend, Mountainfilm is a documentary film festival that showcases nonfiction stories about environmental, cultural, climbing, political and social justice issues that matter. Along with exceptional documentaries, the festival goes beyond the film medium by bringing together world-class athletes, change makers and visionary artists for a multi-dimensional celebration of indomitable spirit. Mountainfilm, which includes interactive talks, free community events, a gallery walk, outdoor programming and presentations, aims to inspire audiences to action on worthy causes.

The New Normal

At Mountainfilm, we believe that climate change is the most critical issue of our time. We also believe in grassroots movements and have spent nearly four decades sharing and celebrating their powerful stories.

At this year’s festival, we will join the millions of individuals, groups, agencies and organizations actively working to battle climate change.

This is our New Normal, and we invite you to help shape it. Toward this end, we encourage you to take action on our five key initiatives. We will celebrate you, and add you to our list of partners:

Mountainfilm for Students - Initiative

Mountainfilm for Students

Education is a primary element of Mountainfilm’s mission. We accomplish this in three ways: tour education, festival education and regional Outreach.

The very nature of our programming — eye-opening adventure, environmental and cultural documentary films on contemporary issues — educates students by simply presenting exceptional content to contemplate, study and explore. Students are an important audience, and we aim to share Mountainfilm’s inspiring content with them because they may otherwise never experience it.
